Things to do in Cornwall

Activities for when the sun is shining

We love the sun.  The sun makes us smile.  The sun makes the sand on the beach warm between our toes. When the sun is shining there are lots of adventures to go on and places to explore, here are some ideas.

  • Walk along south west coast path and take in the views of the famous Bedruthan Steps
  • Go down to Mawgan Porth beach, only a 10 minute walk away, and take in the views, breath fresh air and build a sandcastle.  There are some great rockpools waiting to be discovered too.
  • There are plenty of activities to keep you busy. Go horse riding on the beach, cycle the camel trail, discover surfing or go wild food foraging to name just a few.
  • The National Trust tea shop at Bedruthan Steps is good for a treat.  If you climb down the steps onto the beach and go through the cave on the left, it takes you right through to a secluded beach on the other side. Make sure you check tide times.
  • The cliff walk between St.Agnes and Chapel Porth is excellent.  There are tin mines to explore and there is a great place for a snack at Chapel Porth. The valley is impressive and the café does great crouque monsiers and famous hedgehog ice creams covered in clotted cream and chopped nuts, delicious!
  • At Trevaunace cove St. Agnes when the tide is out there are rocks that are great to clamber across to reach the beach of Trevellace, plenty of rock pool opportunities here!

Activities for when raindrops are splashing

Puddles are great to jump in.  The smell of fresh rain wakes us up. We like to sing in the rain. We collect rain to water our gardens.  There are always plenty of things to do in the rain, here are some ideas.

  • Cornwall is home to lots of galleries in which you can discover everything from pottery to paintings of your favourite scenes.
  • There are lots of indoor attractions that are perfect for a rainy day.  Eden Project, Newquay Zoo and Newquay Aquarium are just a few.
  • Truro is the perfect place to stroll around and maybe pick up a few stylish purchases.  Newquay is the place to go to combine a trip to the beach with picking up some surf clothes.
  • Cream Tea at the Fern Pit Cafe on Pentire Head in Newquay. Great food with a beautiful view over Crantock beach. Walk down the cliff to a small lobster farm where you can buy them and there is a small boat which takes you to crantock at high tide.
