Bedruthan Steps Hotel Environmental Policy

As a family friendly 4 star hotel in the beautiful natural environment that is North Cornwall, Bedruthan believes that it must do everything that is possible to reduce its impact on the environment, without compromising our guest's holiday experience. The sustainability ethos that is carried by all Bedruthan's team is not something that we feel is right but that is a necessity. It is our way of life.

We recognise that as a large organisation, the waste produced and energy used are our most significant aspects and we have objectives and targets in place to deal with this. Our significant aspects, and our objectives and targets are reviewed annually.

We offset our guest's carbon emissions and hold Greener Events. We have a Buy Local Policy ensuring we source local seasonal food. We support our local community and economy. We clean our beach and sponsor local charities. We have solar panels, light sensors in our cloakrooms and dual flush toilets. We also like to educate our children.

All of our staff are made fully aware of our sustainable ethos when joining the company and are encouraged to join our Green Team, who meets once a month to discuss new initiatives to introduce with the hotel. Sub-contractors and suppliers are made aware of our Environmental Management System.

As an ambassador of the COAST Project, Bedruthan works closely with other like-minded organisations to help Cornwall residents and businesses do all that they can to be as sustainable as possible everyday.

Our structured Environmental Management System ensures continually improvement of our environmental performance. This system aims to give guests the confidence that we are doing what we say we are doing effectively and responsibly.

Bedruthan complies with all relevant legislation and regulations that relate to health, safety and the environment and any other requirements to which the hotel subscribes.

We are committed to continually improving our environmental efforts and our prevention of pollution, at the same time as maintaining a high quality hotel.
